Rescue 3 Europe courses are used by fire and rescue services, search and rescue teams, local authorities and industry across the UK and Europe. Each level builds on the last, and the core courses map to the DEFRA Flood Rescue Concept of Operations (FRCO) modules, so your training is recognised by the agencies you work alongside.

Apex Medical & Rescue is an approved Rescue 3 Europe Training Provider. Our courses follow Rescue 3 Europe standards, and successful students receive a Rescue 3 Europe certificate. Your pathway
Choose your level
Start where your role puts you: near the water, on the bank, or in the water.
- Water Awareness and Safety (WAS) – 3.5 hours, classroom, for people working near water, £95 + VAT
- Water and Flood Awareness (AW) – 1 day, DEFRA Module 1, £165 + VAT
- Swiftwater and Flood First Responder (SFR) – 2 days, DEFRA Module 2, £345 + VAT
- Swiftwater and Flood Rescue Technician (SRT) – 4 days, DEFRA Module 3, £625 + VAT
- Swiftwater and Flood Rescue Boat Operator (SFRBO) – 5 days, DEFRA Module 4, £1,095 + VAT
- Management of Water and Flood Incidents (MWFI) – 4 or 5 days, DEFRA Module 5, from £725 + VAT
Command
Managing water and flood incidents
For officers and managers who plan for and command water and flood incidents, Management of Water and Flood Incidents (MWFI) is the DEFRA Module 5 Water Incident Manager course.
Our instructors
Taught by people who do it
Our water courses are led by Rescue 3 Europe Swiftwater Rescue Technician instructors with many years of flood and water rescue experience, alongside team members who respond operationally with mountain rescue. Training uses our own rescue boats and team equipment.
