What Is FREC 3?

Fully updated and re-launched in June 2025 — Qualsafe Level 3 Award in First Response Emergency Care (RQF) (FREC® 3)— New content | Streamlined assessments, fewer MCQ papers, less paperwork | More scenario-based assessments | Extended skills(subject to clinical governance authorisation)

This course is designed for those who are often first to arrive at a potential first aid emergency. This includes Police Officers, Firefighters, and those providing medical cover at festivals and events such as Emergency/Community First Responders, Door Supervisors, Close Protection Operatives, Security Guards or anyone with an interest in developing a strong understanding in first aid and pre hospital medicine. It is also suitable for those working in high risk environments including the military, power stations, agriculture and manufacturing centres. The FREC system is modular based, enabling a participant to progress through each level from FREC 3 to FREC 5 if desired.  Each level builds upon the last, developing your clinical practice and knowledge. FREC 3 is the first step on the pathway, giving you a strong foundation to your pre hospital medical practice.
