Out of Hospital Immediate Life Support
A one-day Level 4 award in out-of-hospital adult Immediate Life Support – and the yearly revalidation Qualsafe requires for FREC 4 holders.
The course
What is ILS?
A regulated qualification for people who provide emergency care at work or in voluntary roles – event medics, ambulance crews, registered healthcare professionals and specialist emergency service and military staff.
You'll build skills in treating patients in cardiorespiratory arrest or with life-threatening illness and injury.
Syllabus
What's covered
Practical training in line with current RCUK guidelines.
- Airway management and ILS algorithms
- Special circumstances and cardiac arrest team leadership
- ECG placement, interpretation and recap
- Primary and secondary survey; NEWS2
- End of life care and debriefs
Eligibility
Who can attend
You must be 18 or over on day one and either hold FREC 4 – for whom this is the yearly requalification – or be an AAP, EMT or HCP such as a nurse, paramedic or doctor working in emergency or primary care.
