The course
Advanced Life Support, the RCUK way
Apex Medical & Rescue is a Resuscitation Council UK approved Course Centre. ALS covers adult CPR, recognition and management of the deteriorating patient, and working in a team during emergencies, as a team member and team leader.
Syllabus
What is covered
Lectures, skill stations and cardiac arrest simulation, taught by RCUK approved instructors.
- Airway management and IO access
- EtCO2 monitoring
- Tachycardia and bradycardia, incl. pacing and cardioversion
- Cardiac Arrest Simulation Teaching (CASTeach)
- Cardiac Arrest Simulation Test (CASTest)
Training a team? We can run this course privately at your venue or ours.
Structure
How the course runs
You receive the pre-course manual and complete an MCQ on the RCUK learning management system, then attend two days in person at our training centre. RCUK courses follow evidence-based guidelines, so content is consistent across every Course Centre.
Eligibility
Who can attend
Healthcare professionals who need ALS skills in their clinical duties or teach them regularly, such as doctors, paramedics and nurses in acute care or resuscitation teams. You must hold, or be training for, a professional healthcare qualification; final-year NMC, HCPC or GMC students can be accepted.
