The weekend of 3–4 October was one of our busiest yet, with Apex crews covering five events across Somerset, Devon, Hampshire and London.
Saturday
South Downs – Maverick Race. Over 1,000 trail runners took on the South Downs. We provided an ambulance, paramedic and technicians, and added an extra clinician and vehicle at short notice when entries grew.
Moonraker Challenge – Rotary Club of Taunton Vale, Huish Woods. An ambulance and response car covered the event through the night until 3am. Our team treated a participant on site, and the club has since rated us five stars.
Sunday
Palace to Palace, London. Our biggest deployment of the weekend, supporting around 2,400 riders and 1,000 walkers and approximately 1000 spectators. We ran three ambulances and response vehicles on the route, a paramedic-led medical tent at the Battersea Park finish, teams at the water stops, and medical command alongside the organiser's event control.
Mission Unbreakable, North Molton. An ambulance, an off-road UTV for casualty extraction and a medical tent.
Quantock Trail Run. A rapid response vehicle and first aid teams out on the trails.
Thank you
A huge thank you to every member of the team who worked long days, drove through the night and kept every event safe.
